You know what they say, the best things in life are free. So we did a little digging and found a few free events to hit up later this month. Maybe you are in super saving mode for the holidays or maybe you are feeling sleepy from the lack of light. Whatever your reasons may be, there are a few things going on in the city this month that are worth seeing.
The Christmas Market in The Distillery: If you are ready to get your Christmas on, look no further than the annual market that erupts in this tucked away corner of the city. Think of all the magic you have ever experienced and condense it into one day. We are talking mulled wine, gift shopping for loved ones, cobblestone pathways, a massive Christmas tree, hot toddies and more. This is not an event to be missed and we’re not going to say we told you so when everyone’s Instagram lights up over the next month. Get there as soon as possible because it’s a popular event to attend. Admission is free on weekdays.
Regent Park Film Festival: Regent Park is undergoing a big transformation, but it looks like community projects are still thriving. What better way to experience some culture than to catch a film with some friends? This free film festival will be underway for the last weekend of the month showcasing some independent films. It started in 2003 and has been supported by the community ever since. Get out and support a local community’s cultural screenings.
Cavalcade of Lights at Nathan Phillips Square: This will be the 50th year that the city is going to light up an epic Christmas tree. The event starts at 7pm with Choir! Choir! Choir! singing Imagine, with the first lighting of the tree at 7:25pm. Various artists will perform throughout the night with a brief intermission for some fireworks. Weather permitting, a little skate party will be happening with a DJ spinning in the background. Sounds like a free jam worth checking out.
Check out all the other free events in and around Toronto. Some highlights include the Santa Claus Parade (tomorrow) and the Holiday Train. Take a look at the schedule to know when both these events will be stopping by your area.
