How To Make This Weekend An Epic Farewell To Summer

CNE at night sm

Alright, fellow city dwellers! It’s Labour Day long weekend which is the unofficial end to summer. We hope you got in a lot of sunshine, friend time and beer sipping, but you still have this whole weekend to celebrate! It’s been hot. It’s been sweaty. It’s time for one last hoorah before we all try to take life seriously again.

We can’t enough of everything that is going on in the city so we narrowed down your choices for this weekend. We got festivals, exhibitions, drinks and even an update of all the shops that will be closed on Monday. Even if you don’t complete any of the following, just knowing this stuff is out there might inspire you to grab your buddies for one last throwdown.

CNE

The Canadian National Exhibition: The Ex is in its final weekend so get out there and take in all those lights and sounds -- doughnut burgers, a ferris wheel, BBQ vendors with smoked ribs, a sky-train, an indoor farm and more. Even if you go for a few hours, it’s nice to to get your neon light overdose.

Electric Island: One more time, you're gonna celebrate at Hanlan’s Point this weekend! Dance, strut, sway, whatever you need to do to celebrate the end of summer. There is no doubt that this is the sunshiny weekend to do it. If you have a few sips of Hopsta or Loose Lips, make sure you keep hydrated throughout the jam!

Festival in the Distillery

ArtFest: Why not take in a little art and culture in the Distillery this weekend? Happening every day this weekend from 11am to 6pm. If we may say so ourselves, this is quite a refined way to celebrate summer in the city.

TDOT Fest: Remember when the 6ix was the T-dot? Get a little nostalgic on September 4 at this free nine hour Urban Music Festival. Celebrating Canadian artists who are signed and not signed at Yonge-Dundas Square. Also, there are more musical adventures planned for the 4th, like An Evening with David Crosby and Wild Child. All you have to do is pick.

In addition: LUZIA, Cirque du Soleil, will still be happening through the weekend until October. Sounds pretty epic to us.

Hold Me in Trinity Bellwoods

But, you know what will be a real epic end to the summer? Sipping on some tall cans in a park with some friends.

One thing that we would also like to share with you all is your holiday closures. We are talking roads and stores, so if you plan on making moves around the city or going to a BBQ, be prepared. Get stocked with Longslice and avoid these roads

That’s all for now party people. Remember to stay safe out there and to be responsible drinkers. Unless you are at a cottage and you are wearing a flotation device. Then, you can jam out with your can out. Peace!
